Description:

Project Outcome is a free online toolkit designed to help libraries understand and communicate the impact of their programs and services. It now includes toolkits for both public and academic libraries. It provides simple surveys for measuring and analyzing learning outcomes in four areas – knowledge, confidence, application, and awareness. Project Outcome provides both public and academic libraries the means to gather evidence of the learning outcomes of their programs and services and to use that data as the basis for improvements and advocacy.

In this session ACRL and PLA staff will share the theory of change for learning outcomes in academic libraries, results from field-testing and early use of the new academic library surveys, and practical guidance on using Project Outcome to facilitate growth or change. With over 1,200 libraries collecting more than 200,000 patron surveys in the system, PLA’s Project Outcome has helped the public library field collectively move towards the use of standardized outcome measures. In adapting this model for academic libraries, ACRL supports its members and the field to create momentum towards outcome measurement as common practice.
